Police Name Suspect in $1.6M Casino Chip Heist, Las Vegas police are looking for a 31-year-old Southern California man they believe sneaked into a restricted area of the Venetian resort earlier this month and stole $1.6 million in high-denomination casino chips.

Akingide Cole of Palmdale, Calif., is wanted on suspicion of burglary, grand larceny, and unlawful possession of burglary tools stemming from the heist at the Las Vegas Strip resort, police said Monday.

But it's unlikely the robber will be able to redeem the high-value chips, which are usually circulated among a small group of high-rollers.

"In any of these thefts of chips, it's very difficult to cash these in," said Nevada Gaming Control Board Chief of Enforcement Jerry Markling. "Licensees generally know who their customers are."

Because of internal protocol that would flag the biggest chips, the redeemable value of the stash is estimated at $10,000, according to Ron Reese, spokesman for The Venetian's parent company, Las Vegas Sands.

Trump's Obama announcement, Donald Trump, the real estate mogul, reality TV star and de facto leader of the "birther" movement, says he is planning a "big announcement" about President Barack Obama.

"I have something very, very big concerning the president of the United States," Trump told "Fox & Friends" on Monday during a phone interview. "I will be announcing it sometime probably Wednesday and it's going to be very big."

"Will it change the election?" co-host Gretchen Carlson asked Trump.

"Possibly," Trump replied. "It's very big—bigger than anybody would know."

Trump—who has been live-tweeting during the presidential debates—said he would likely make the announcement on "the Twitter."

Teen says Sandusky chased him in car as he ran away, The 18-year-old who triggered the prosecution of Jerry Sandusky for sexually abusing him and nine other boys told ABC News the former Penn State coach once chased him down with his car as he tried to flee.

Aaron Fisher, previously known as Victim 1, has revealed his identity since testifying against Sandusky at his June trial. Sandusky, 68, was convicted of 45 counts of child sex abuse and sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Fisher was just 10 when he met Sandusky through the former coach's charity for at-risk children, The Second Mile, in 2004. At first, Sandusky seemed like "the all-natural father figure," Fisher told ABC in the "20/20" interview broadcast on Friday night.

But after a year of box seats at Penn State football games and weekend trips with the coach, Fisher said he was being sexually abused in Sandusky's basement, leaving him confused and ashamed.

"Being a kid, you never know what to do. You don't know who you can tell because you don't know who you can trust," he said on ABC.

The attacks continued for years, with Sandusky misusing his position as a volunteer coach to pull the boy out of class. Fisher's attempts to hide or flee were met with a tightened leash, and Sandusky became aggressive.

"He once followed my bus home from school," Fisher said. "I took off running but he drove on the opposite side of the street, onto oncoming traffic to catch up with me. I ran up an alley and he went to my house and parked out front."

A 10-mile stretch of one of the nation's busiest freeways has turned into a virtual ghost road.

Unknown hackers have broken into the security networks of Lockheed Martin Corp and several other U.S. military contractors, a source with direct knowledge of the attacks told Reuters.

They breached security systems designed to keep out intruders by creating duplicates to "SecurID" electronic keys from EMC Corp's RSA security division, said the person who was not authorized to publicly discuss the matter.

It was not immediately clear what kind of data, if any, was stolen by the hackers. But the networks of Lockheed and other military contractors contain sensitive data on future weapons systems as well as military technology currently used in battles in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Republican-led House of Representatives voted on Monday to extend expiring surveillance provisions of the anti-terrorism Patriot Act, overcoming unanticipated early opposition.

On a largely party-line vote of 275-144 vote, the House sent the measure -- a proposed nine-month renewal of three provisions set to expire in two weeks -- to the Democratic-led Senate for consideration.

The action came a week after House Republican leaders failed to get the bill approved under a fast-track approach normally reserved for non-controversial issues.

Some analysts saw race as referendum on Republican plan to transform Medicare program

In a special House election carefully watched by national political strategists, Democrat Kathy Hochul won what had been a Republican seat Tuesday in upstate New York, lifting Democrats’ hopes for the 2012 campaign.

As her campaign’s centerpiece, Hochul attacked changes in the Medicare program proposed by House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan.

“I will fight any plan that tries to decimate Medicare — that is something people in this district feel passionately about and I do as well,” Hochul said in a debate last week with Republican opponent Jane Corwin, who supported the Ryan budget plan.

With about 90 percent of the precincts reporting, Hochul had 48 percent and Corwin 42 percent. Also on the ballot was a Democrat-turned-Tea Party candidate, Jack Davis, who polled 9 percent.

Celebrating victory, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chairman Rep. Steve Israel said, "Even in one of the most Republican districts, seniors and independent voters rejected the Republican plan to end Medicare."

There will be two more special House elections this year to fill vacancies, one in California in July, for a seat held by Democrat Jane Harman, and another in Nevada in September for the seat vacated by Republican Dean Heller, who he was appointed to the Senate to replace John Ensign.

House Budget chairman not running for president, but 'you never know what opportunities present themselves way down the road'

House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan, R- Wisc., said on NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday that he was disappointed by the decision of Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels to not run for the Republican presidential nomination.

Ryan left only the slimmest chance that he himself might run, or accept a draft.

“It’s not my plan” to run, he told NBC’s David Gregory. “I’m not going to get into all these hypotheticals for the future. My point is: I’m not running for running for president. You never know what opportunities present themselves way down the road.”

Ryan has been driving the fiscal debate in Washington with his plan to cut federal debt and fundamentally redesign Medicare and Medicaid, the two entitlement programs that now account for more than one-fifth of federal spending.

Arguing that the plan, passed by the House last month, imposes too heavy a burden on older Americans, Democrats see it as a huge liability for Republicans in the 2012 campaign.

Gingrich comment 'a gross mischaracterization'
As he has for weeks, Ryan again gave a vigorous defense of his proposal, saying it would avert a debt crisis.

He said the criticism of his plan voiced last week on Meet the Press by GOP presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich was “deeply inaccurate” and “a gross mischaracterization of the House Republican budget plan.”

Last week, Gingrich denounced the Ryan plan as “right-wing social engineering,” but, in the face of furious criticism from Republicans, recanted that statement and eventually tried to claim he hadn’t really been referring to Ryan’s proposal.

After Rob Summers was paralyzed below the chest in a car accident in 2006, his doctors told him he would never stand again. They were wrong.

Despite intensive physical therapy for three years, Summers' condition hadn't improved. So in 2009, doctors implanted an electrical stimulator onto the lining of his spinal cord to try waking up his damaged nervous system. Within days, Summers, 25, stood without help. Months later, he wiggled his toes, moved his knees, ankles and hips, and was able to take a few steps on a treadmill.

"It was the most incredible feeling," said Summers, of Portland, Oregon. "After not being able to move for four years, I thought things could finally change."

Still, despite his renewed optimism, Summers can't stand when he's not in a therapy session with the stimulator turned on, and he normally gets around in a wheelchair. Doctors are currently limiting his use of the device, made by Minneapolis-based Medtronic, Inc., to several hours at a time.

His case is described in a paper published Friday in the journal, Lancet. The research was paid for by the U.S. National Institutes of Health and the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.

For years, certain people with incomplete spinal cord injuries, who have some control of their limbs, have experienced some improvement after experiments to electrically stimulate their muscles. But such progress had not been seen before in someone with a complete spinal cord injury.

A man suspected of being one of the two assailants in the brutal beating of Giants fan Bryan Stow at Dodger Stadium was taken into custody early Sunday morning, Los Angeles police sources say.

At about 7 a.m. PT, the Los Angeles Police Department SWAT team descended on an East Hollywood apartment building with a warrant in hand. According to apartment building manager Maritza Camacho, police, using loudspeakers and with guns drawn, called out to the occupants of Apartment 25. Inside was one of the men police suspect in the March 31 beating that left Stow with brain damage.

As residents of the three-story building stood watching from balconies, police removed, one by one, the people who were inside the apartment, according to Camacho. Among them was a man with a bald head and tattoos on his neck and arms, she said, a description that appeared to match the vague sketches released by police of one of the two suspects. She added that he did not appear to resist being taken into custody.

Several police sources confirmed that the man taken into custody was one of the two suspects in the beating.

Police officials declined to give details, including the name of the suspect, saying only that the investigation was ongoing.

Grimsvotn eruption not expected to have same effect as 2010 Eyjafjallajokull eruptions
More than a year after an Icelandic volcano wreaked havoc for millions of air travelers across the globe, a new eruption has spewed an ash plume 12 miles in the air. Iceland's airports have been shut down, and ash could affect Europe later this week.

Ash could reach northern Scotland by Tuesday and parts of Britain, France and Spain by Thursday or Friday if the eruption continues at the same intensity, airlines were warned on Sunday.

The warning is based on the latest 5-day weather forecasts, but is being treated cautiously because of uncertainties over the way the volcano will behave and interact with the weather.

The Grimsvotn (GREEMSH-votn) volcano, which lies beneath the ice of the uninhabited Vatnajokull glacier in southeast Iceland, began erupting Saturday for the first time since 2004, sending ash, smoke and steam 12 miles into the air.

It was the volcano's largest eruption in 100 years.

Former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger put his movie comeback on hold Thursday as he deals with fallout from his affair with his housekeeper and braces for what could be a costly divorce.

A statement from Schwarzenegger's office said the former "Terminator" star has asked his talent agency to put all his motion picture projects that are currently under way or being negotiated on hold until further notice.

"Gov. Schwarzenegger is focusing on personal matters and is not willing to commit to any production schedules or timelines," the statement said. "This includes `Cry Macho,' the `Terminator' franchise and other projects under consideration. We will resume discussions when Gov. Schwarzenegger decides."

The revelation that Schwarzenegger fathered a child with his housekeeper also set the stage for what could be a big-money divorce case that will stand out even in a city that has seen its share of made-for-the-tabloid s matrimonial splits.

His wife, Maria Shriver, the Kennedy heiress and former network TV anchor, stands to cash in big time financially, according to several prominent divorce attorneys.
