McAleese said Britain and Ireland were "determined to make the future a much, much better place." The queen didn't comment ahead of her planned speech Wednesday night at Dublin Castle, the former seat of British rule of Ireland.

Sienna Miller has accepted £100,000 compensation from the News of the World after it accepted unconditional liability for her phone-hacking claims.

The unexpected agreement came midway through a high court battle with the paper. The actor is the first celebrity to settle a claim since the tabloid, part of Rupert Murdoch's News Group Newspapers (NGN), last month admitted hacking the phones of several public figures. The settlement is the highest privacy award to date; NGN will also pay Miller's legal costs.

Thirty years have officially passed, since the death of legendary reggae musician Bob Marley who passed away May 11, 1981. Marley was 36 when he lost his battle to cancer.

The musician had both brain and lung cancer, and died in Miami. Marley has crossover from Jamaica into the American audience with the song “Could You Be Loved.” He was in New York when he first collapsed months before, the Jamaican born musician had collapsed a few times.

Pippa gained attention in her tight-fitting bridesmaid's dress at the royal wedding of her sister Kate on April 29.

"As far as I was concerned, you were the star of the recent royal wedding," CEO of Vivid Steven Hirsch wrote in a letter to Pippa, obtained by "Extra." He continued, "As I watched a broadcast of the event I couldn't help but think that with your beauty and attitude you could be an enormously successful adult star. For just one explicit scene I would be pleased to offer you $5 million and, of course, you would have a choice of partners. If you would like to bring your brother James along, he could appear in a separate scene for $1 million. Dana Wynter, who ran from the Pod People in the 1956 science-fiction classic "Invasion of the Body Snatchers," has died in Southern California. She was 79.


Her son, Mark Bautzer, told the Los Angeles Times the actress died Thursday in Ojai of congestive heart failure.


Wynter, who starred in a number of television dramas in the 1960s, was best known for her role as Becky Driscoll in director Don Siegel's paranoid film about townspeople being replaced by emotionless duplicates grown from plant-like pods.

Soccer star David Beckham was at the wheel of a Cadillac that struck another vehicle on a Los Angeles-area freeway, but he was not injured or cited in the collision, police said on Saturday.


Beckham was driving on Friday on the 405 Freeway in Torrance, about 20 miles (32 km) from downtown Los Angeles, when he struck a stalled Mitsubishi, the California Highway Patrol said.


The owner of the Mitsubishi, a 40 year-old Los Angeles man, complained of pain and was taken to a hospital, police said.


Beckham plays for the Los Angeles Galaxy professional soccer team. His wife, Victoria, is a former member of the Spice Girls group.

TMZ broke the story ... Lindsay will plead no contest to misdemeanor theft, and it's likely the judge will not increase the 120 day sentence -- in other words, once she serves the 120 days, she's home free.

The happy couple has reportedly decided on the content of their vows, but royal aides are remaining tight-lipped and not giving anything away.

Will Kate follow in Diana’s footsteps and omit the word “obey”? Or will this modern bride-to-be take a more traditional route and follow in the footsteps of William’s grandmother, Sarah Ferguson and more recently Sophie Rhys-Jones, who married Prince Edward in 1999, and include the controversial word?

Kate and William have certainly eschewed tradition in many ways thus far. They have lived together in a cottage near William’s RAF base in Wales, she will arrive at the wedding by car instead of a carriage and it has even been reported that she may prefer to wear flowers in her hair instead of a tiara on the big day, according to the Daily Mail newspaper.

Whichever way they choose, it will be one of the few times the public gets to hear Kate’s actual voice. And if her popularity as a princess-to-be is any guide, it’s not important what she says, but how she says it.
